Acne is usually caused by hormones or bacterial infection. It can be a reaction to an allergen, but that is more of an allergic reaction than actual acne. It can start off from an imbalance in your hormones levels, and get worse because of constantly touching your skin, and causing an additional bacterial (or fungal) breakout on your affected areas.
